“Swift as hares, fierce as wolves!

Born into the Scarlet Rabbit’s mercenary company, Sakura Ike learned the art of combat before she learned how to serve tea as a Geisha. For her, fighting in a CASPer mech suit is as natural as breathing.

The job was simple: get down to the planet Wh’ton, retrieve the box, come home, and get paid. Easy. But then tragedy struck, and the only family she has left is her aunt Katsume and a mother that never loved her.

There is no time to grieve. Sakura must find answers before the trail goes cold and she loses her chance at revenge. But she can’t do it alone. Together with her best friend Jeni, the shell-shocked Newsom, the mysterious Jung, and the alien warrior Taka, they must band together to hunt down the Rabbits’ betrayer. The good news is Katsume has built brand new cyber battlesuits for them. The bad news is a fledgling Yakuza crime family wants to take them out before they fulfill their ultimate mission.

Join the Gunpowder Geishas as they embark on their first adventures! They’re swiftly on their way to becoming the most feared merc unit on the planet and you don’t want to miss a thing.

WHAT READERS SAY

Carolyn Kay is a fantastic storyteller, I was drawn into this imaginative tale from the very beginning. Kay brings to life several worlds inside this steampunk fantasy and keeps the reader hooked from beginning to end with rich scenery, powerfully diverse characters, and a multifaceted, well thought out, plot.

Readers of all preferences will enjoy the ride that is Dien-Vek: An Ashelon Novella, and like me, will yearn for more stories from this author.

Carolyn Kay is a meticulous writer, “crossing the streams” of fantasy and Steampunk with a deft hand. But it’s not necesary to be a fan of either genre to enjoy the storytelling. It’s a classic tale of a priviledged character, though good in heart, who is stripped of advantages and forced to hide, to fight, to survive. Vivid action, excellent use of all the right language to create a perfect escape into a gorgeous universe. Carolyn is writing another book in this series and I can’t. WAIT.
